“Another feather in the cap”


FeatherWe are proud to announce that RajaRajeswari Medical College & Hospital is now an institutional member of the International Medical Sciences Academy (IMSA). On the 14th of May 2011, the inaugural function of IMSA Karnataka Chapter was held in our college auditorium. The function was attended by the President of IMSA, Dr. K. Jagadeesan and Central Executive Council member, Dr. A. Govindan. The patron of IMSA Karnataka Chapter, Sri. A. C. Shanmugam, Chairman RajaRajeswari Group of Institutions was the Guest of Honor.

RajaRajeswari Medical College & hospital was inducted as an institutional member of IMSA on the same day.

Introduction of new members:
14 new fellows / members from both Dental and Medical teaching faculty and 5 institutional fellows were introduced to the President, Dr. K. Jagadeesan.

CME Programme:
The inaugural function was followed by a CME programme.
Topics of the CME programme:

  1. Emerging applications in MRI by Surgeon Captain Dr. I. K. Indrajit.
  2. Oral manifestation of systemic diseases by Dr. Anjan Kumar Shah.

What is IMSA?
The International Medical Science Academy (IMSA) was established as a world body in 1981 with world head quarters in New Delhi as a registered society. It has regions in America, Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe & India. There are 28 chapters world over. IMSA is run by a board of trustees, under the chairmanship of the President, Dr. K. Jagadeesan, who is a well known renal transplant surgeon. It has about 3,000 membership world over. Many noble laureates are its fellows like Dr. Godfrey N. Hounsfield, the inventor of CT scanner. IMSA is the only international body which encompasses all disciplines of medicine. The main objectives of IMSA are bringing together national and international medical scientists, medical educationists, medical public health administrators and research workers in medical and health services on a worldwide basis for advancement of health of all the people of the world.

Observership at Prestigious Hospitals in London and United States of America:

ChairmanRRMCH is a privileged institutional member of IMSA and our Chairman Sri. A. C. Shanmugam decided to send batches of 5 students as observers to prestigious hospital in London & to Mayo clinic in United States of America. We are very thankful to K. Jagadeesan, President of IMSA for communicating the Professor, Nadey Hakim of Hammersmith hospital to consider 5 of our interns for observership for a period of 2 weeks. The secretary IMSA Karnataka Chapter by letter No. IMSA/06/2011-12 dated 25.05.2011, communicated the same to the principal, RRMCH requesting her to circulate this information to all the eligible candidates.

Recommendation Committee:
In this regard, a Recommendation Committee for the selection of candidates was constituted on 16.06.2011 with the following members:

9 interns were shortlisted and called to appear before the recommendation Committee on the 14th of July 2011.
