World Breastfeeding week (August 1st week)

  • To instill a sense of social activism among the undergraduate students with regard to important Public Health Issues, so that they mature to become Doctors who are more proactive when it comes to health issues of community. Towards this end, rallies and health education programmes are organized.
  • Educational programmes are organized at Ittamadu PHC area, Ramnagara District, (Rural Field Practice area of our Institute, the PHC being adopted by the Dept. of Community Medicine, RRMCH)

  • In collaboration with Rotary Club, we run an Outreach Health Centre at Agara village,

World Environment day (5m June)

World Environment day
  • Theme: “Your planet needs you - Unite to combat climate change”.
  • In pursuance of the UN campaign, trees were planted by staff & students in our campus... "Be the change you want see".
  • Dr. Surendra V.H.H, Industrial Medical Officer, Govt. of Karnataka, spoke on issues related to occupation health, global warming. Climate change and its will effects on health.
  • A collage competition was held with the theme "Unite to Combat Change", to focus the creative talents of students towards an important cause.

General health issues including hygiene, common diseases and occupational health:

Community Health Programme for HIV Positives

Our extended curricular program includes involvement in the following HIV/AIDS prevention/control activities;

Programme for HIV Positives
  • Managing a Community Care Centre (CCC) for the PLHAs in Ramanagaram district, through a NACO-GFATM-KHPT-SPRVHA grant
  • Management of the Department at teaching staff as Consultants with the 'Tami Nadu state JU^OS control society, for mentoring support of CCC and Drop-in-centers in the state of TN,
  • Establishing ICTC Centre at RajaRajeswari Hospital, Bangalore
     

Other Activities:

  • Chikungunya epidemic investigation at Ittamadu PHC area, Ramanagara District
  • Conducting seminars for capacity building of Medical officers of PHC (Health care waste management and Tuberculosis)
  • Secured unique Institutional Ethical Review Board (IRB) & Federal Wide Assurance (FWA) numbers from National Institute of Health, USA, for ethical conduct of research projects and administrative systems in grant management
  • Facilitates International collaboration in program and research activities
