DURATION OF THE COURSE
Every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4½ years academic years followed by one year compulsory rotating internship. The 4½ years course has been divided into three phases.
Phase I - 1 year consisting of two terms of 6 months each
Phase II - 1½ years consisting three terms of 6 months each
Phase III - Part I consisting of 1 year
Phase III - Part II consisting of 1 year
In phase-I students will study Anatomy, Physiology, including Biophysics, Biochemistry and introduction to Community Medicine.
After passing phase 1 (pre-clinical) the Phase II shall be 3 terms (1½ years) devoted to para clinical and clinical subjects. Para clinical subjects shall consist of Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, and Forensic Medicine. During this phase clinical subjects shall be taught concurrently. The clinical subjects will be Medicine & its allied specialties', Surgery & its allied specialties' and Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Phase III - Part I consists of Community Medicine, ENT & Ophthalmology along with the clinical subjects.
Phase III - Part II consist of Medicine, OBG & Surgery.
ATTENDANCE
Every candidate should have attendance not less than 75% of the total classes conducted in Theory, Practical and clinical classes in each Calendar year calculated from the date of commencement of term to the last working day as notified by the University.
A candidate lacking in the prescribed attendance and Progress in any subjects in Theory or Practical/Clinical in the first appearance will not be permitted to appear for the examination in that subjects.
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT EXAMINATION
It will be based on evaluation of assignment, preparation of Seminar, Clinical presentation, Monthly tests etc. There will be minimum of at least Three (3) SESSIONAL EXAMINATION DURING Phase I of the Course and average of best of two examination marks will be taken into consideration while calculating the marks for the Internal Assessment 20% of the total marks assigned for each subjects.
A student must secure at least 35% of total marks fixed for Internal Assessments in particular subjects, in order to be eligible to appear in the University examination in that subject.
