The department has a conducive environment to initiate and carry out research. It is equipped with the latest Fluorescent Microscope, RT-PCR and a fully automated ELISA. The following are the on-going research projects in the department:
- A study of MRS A by cefoxitin disc diffusion test
- Occurrence of extended spectrum -p-lactamase among Enterobacteriaceae species isolated at a medical college hospital in Bangalore
- Detection of Anti-Rubella antibody litres in medical students and health care workers.
- Detection of anti-lcptospirai antibodies by MAT in rice-mill workers.
- Detection anti HBsAg tilres and HCV in medical students and health care workers.
- Detection of Group B Streptococci in pregnant women and its transmission to their newborn.
- Asymptomatic Bacteruria in pregnant women.
- Detection of community acquired MRSA by D- Test.
- Characterization of Candida isolates and their Antifungal Susceptibility pattern in a tertiary care centre.
- Bacteriological profile of AECOPD.
