Overview | Physiology

Physiology is the study of functioning of cells and tissues. The curriculum involves detailed study of the physiological organization of single molecules and individual cells to multi cellular systems, cell signaling, signal transduction, hematology, clinical physiology human experiments, and basics of molecular and cellular biology along with Electrophysiology. The Physiology department has full-fledged lecture halls, state-of-the-art labs specializing in hematology, clinical physiology and human experiments. The lab is equipped with sophisticated gadgets like the Spirometers, Perimeters, 4-channel Physiograph, ECG, EMG, Ergo Graph, Poly Graphs, etc. Future expansions include establishing a highly specialized, autonomic function lab, pain neurophysiology lab and sophisticated Electrophysiology lab. The department aims to:

  • train the undergraduate and postgraduate medical students as per the University guidelines.
  • encourage the staff to update the recent Physiological Concepts and advances engage in research activities.
  • conduct a postgraduate programmes: Journal clubs, clinical case discussion and seminars, research presentations
  • conduct seminars, guest lectures and CME as part of the interdisciplinary, integrated teaching program
  • provide clinical services e.g. pulmonary function tests, etc
